Catalytic Converters Quite a few of the cars from Japan are coming in without a catalyst and many of them from South Africa, North Africa and the Middle East do not have cats fitted from new. We fit catalysts, either replacement ones for the Japanese cars where they have been removed for speed or have become polluted or after market ones where no cat was fitted from new. This is not easy technology, especially the after market jobs, but don't even think of going to the main agents to get the job done as they can only use the dealership parts and will immediately think about a new wiring loom, lambda sensor etc. and when they find that the job is not possible and you owe them a grand or so - they will stop. We have seen this happen time and time again with the S.A. cars, don't fall into the dealership trap. I know that the main dealers are the experts, I would never deny that, but on a job like this they do not have the training or the knowledge or access to the correct parts. We do it quite often and we get it right- or we have done so to date. It is not cheap but it will not cost anything like dealership prices You have been warned, don't even think of walking into Toyota or VW with your S.A. car and asking for a cat to be fitted, they will welcome you with open arms and an open bank account and you will not get the job done properly, if it is done at all.
