Speedo
Faces. We
make more than anyone else, we made them first and we make them better. That's a
claim and a half for you! I wish we could say that we are the cheapest as well
but we are not but if you see some of the terrible pigs em that the competition
you will understand that we can justify our slightly higher price. Let's
Face It! All
the imports are calibrated in km/h and there is more than one way around that
problem. We offer a very comprehensive range of conversion plates. These are
acceptable to the SVA testers for the slower cars but the faster cars have to
have a speedo capable of measuring the cars maximum road speed. They are not
stickers as the testers will not accept a sticker, and they match the original
as far as possible in colour and light transmission At the moment we make them
for more models than I can remember and the competition just cannot match the
quality no matter how hard they try. These plates, of course, will not change
the odometer, that will stay in km, but they are clearly marked km in the
appropriate positions. We use Polycarbonate that is seven times as expensive but
is the right material for the job. They all cost £25 but if you are a trade
customer and buy them on a regular basis we will discount them according to the
number that you buy. Please read the instructions that follow about how to zero
the needle before doing this job. Removal
of the instrument cluster is usually the hardest part of the job as there are
often hidden screws but you can always call us for advice. A few things to
remember is that on an MR2 you should look under the ashtray, the MX5 has two
screws hidden behind the air vents, the L200 and Celica have screws hidden
behind blanking plates and the Civic has one hidden behind the hazard switch. Once
you have the instruments out the lens can be easily separated from the base and
then, if the speeds is electronic you must check the zero setting. To do this
you should put the unit under power with the ignition switched on and ease the
needle over the stop pin. The zero point might be at the pin but in many cases
it is below the pin so mark wherever it settles under power. Once you have
marked the zero point you should then switch off and disconnect the battery
before going any further I know that all instructions Mazda

Set Installation Instructions. Tools
required prior to installation.No.2 teaspoons,No.2 Phillips screw drivers, No.2
flat screwdrivers. Screwdriver sizes will become apparent as the work
progresses. Prior to commencing the installation run the engine for approx 20
minutes. This will set gauges to normal running temperature. Remove No.4
Phillips screw s to bottom cowling on steering column. On facing the steering
wheel the rear screw (back left) has a long recess. Remove all No.4 four screws
and put down in a safe position (do not lose them). Pull
steering column cowling apart (top & bottom section) leaving bottom in a
loose position, but remove top Part of cowling completely. Remove
the black instrument cover very carefully by removing No.2 screws at the bottom
comers. Hold the top of the cover by each side and pull towards you (this cover
is held in by push in clips). If the cover is brittle and has been on many
years, the clip may snap during this operation (do not worry too much, a little
super glue does wonders). There are No.3 clips holding on cover, top back centre
is the problem one. You
have now exposed the Perspex front panel to the instruments, and by removing the
No.4 screws holding the complete instrument housing you can now gently poll the
complete housing towards you. This will expose the Speedo cable head connection
(round white fitting) and also No.2 electrical plug sockets (if electrical
heated rear screen is fitted there should be No.3 plug sockets). Gently
disconnect the Speed0 cable by pressing on side clip connection and poll apart.
Gently disconnect the plug sockets. Remove the instrument panel completely, it
should now be in your hand totally disconnected. Remove the front Perspex panel,
this is self explanatory using a flat screwdriver to push clip and separate,
exposing the instrument dials. IMPORTANT:
the needle sizes differ, so note their position in relationship to each dial,
before attempting to remove any of the dial, mark the needle positions on the
old (original) dials for their positions You may need to refer to them when you
are re-fixing your dial needles. Remove
the existing needles (using the spoons to lift under each side of the centre and
ease upwards being careful not to bend the needle), now remove the dials by
using a small Phillips screws (Keep small screws safe). On removing you will
find plastic dial holders behind some dials, these will be needed when refitting
new dials. Fit the new needle rest pins (No.2 applied, push fit, no glue
required) to the dials, rev counter & oil gauge. (These are black, packed in
a small separate plastic bag). Prior to refitting the new gauges you should also
remove the four green plastic covers to the light bulbs behind the dials, as
this will stop the green reflection through the new gauges and make them more
distinctive. The
needle arm to the Speedo dial can now be fitted, gently push on the pin and line
up the Zero (do not fit any other needles at present). Re-assemble the Speedo
head by following the previous instructions only in reverse. Before installing
the clear Perspex cover run the engine for approx 10 minutes, this will set the
engine temperature. Refit all the remaining needles carefully. At this stage it
is possible to refer back to the original dials that you first marked. This will
allow all the needles to line up in the original positions. Discard
the dials not required. . No. 1 speedo dial & No. 1 oil gauge. Re-assemble
complete unit. Job done. Don't
they look good. Disclaimer:
